The CareCo Foundation is committed to serving the aging population in Connecticut, which the Foundation considers to be one of the most underserved segments of the population within the state.
The Foundation offers the following senior care programs:
ADULT DAYCARE (THE LUNCH BUNCH PROGRAM)
The Lunch Bunch Program provides care and companionship for seniors who need assistance or support during the daytime hours. The program is based at the Foundation’s beautiful center in Waterford, Connecticut, which features a full kitchen, a safe and enclosed deck for gardening and barbeque, and a fully operational hair salon. The program provides meals, activities, and a place to nap, and planned outings.
Respite care is the provision of short-term, temporary relief to those who are caring for family members who might otherwise require permanent placement in a facility outside the home. The Foundation’s respite program provides families with an experienced and qualified caregiver and a safe environment. Under certain circumstances, and depending on availability, the program can also provide temporary housing. This allows families a chance to go on vacation, travel, or just take a break from the everyday worries that can accompany the taking care of a vulnerable loved one.
The Adopt-a-Senior Program invites interested parties to support a senior who is alone in the hospital. With a small donation of $25.00 TO $75.00, the CareCo Foundation will create and deliver a customized care package for a deserving senior, complete with a range of comforting items to help the senior through the difficult period involved in a hospital stay. Care items include such articles as a blanket, a personal fan, and a custom gift—a small item requested by the senior.
