Each year, one in four Americans aged sixty-five or older suffers from a fall. Every eleven seconds, an older adult is treated in the emergency room for a fall and every nineteen minutes, an older adult dies from a fall. And the dangers of fall-related injuries aren’t limited to the elderly population. Various illnesses and injuries can heighten an individual’s risk of falling. One of the best solutions to combat this problem is participation in a fall prevention program. The CareCo Foundation is committed to making such programs available to Connecticut residents.
Happy Feet is a fun-filled traveling program that blends dance and exercise. Participants are inspired to get up and dance along to carefully choreographed exercises that are designed to strengthen muscles and improve balance.
